Teen Connection

This program was designed to fit the specific needs of our young adult members between the age of 13 and 19.

With services like: savings & investment programs; checking; electronic account access; and loans* for your first car, computer or school dance, Yakima Valley Credit Union can help with financial services to fit your lifestyle.

Here's how the program works:

  • The minimum share account balance is $5 and will be $50 when a member reaches age 18. (A $50 minimum savings balance will be required to receive a checking, ATM card, Visa, or loan.)
  • FREE Home Banking, FREE Bill Payer, FREE e-Statements and give you the option to view your accounts and do a variety of transactions online. Click here to enroll for Home Banking. Once enrolled, select Preferences and e-Statement Selection to change from receiving your statements by US MAIL to ELECTRONIC.
  • FREE ATM Withdrawals (at YVCU owned ATMs) help you save your money for the things you need.
  • A VISA Platinum credit card* is available for students ages 15 to 23 with a minimum $300 limit. Members under age 18 will be required to have a co-signer on the loan*.
  • Members can open a certificate account with as little as $100. This account is helpful to the long-term saver because the money must stay in the certificate for the term selected. For this reason, the interest rate is higher than a savings account.
  • Teens on a budget appreciate The Economy Checking Account with no monthly service charge and no minimum balance requirements. Many teen members also apply for a Visa Debit Card* when opening their checking account. The Visa Debit card works just like a credit card only the purchases are deducted from checking, rather than being added to a line of credit (like a credit card) that charges interest. (A parent or guardian's signature will be required on the account, if account holder is under age 18.)

*Subject to approval. Special conditions may apply.
